38. The Church Needs To Get Creative

When I first became the pastor of River City Baptist Church in the summer of 2016, I had a very different perspective on church outreach. Our staff printed gospel tracts, mapped out our city, and knocked as many doors as we could to invite the community to come. We found out very quickly that door-to-door evangelism exclusively is not the best method for church growth. In fact, the organic growth we’ve experienced at River City has been due to our members and regular attenders being excited about church and inviting their friends or family. Over the past five years, we have learned to use more purpose with our outreach and are seeing better success in reaching people.

In today’s episode, Erik McKay and Jody Jenkins join me to discuss how the church needs more creativity with outreach. Erik has done a tremendous job in reaching our community’s young people through a basketball ministry and we’ve seen over 60 kids come to know Christ.
